In 1974, the library created the first Clara Waldron Historical Room, which was located in a small room in the basement. The room was named in honor of Clara Waldron, author of One Hundred Years a Country Town, a history of Tecumseh from 1824 to 1924.
In 1977, the library received a gift from the Tecumseh Community Fund Foundation and brought the collection up to archival standards of preservation.
By 1981 use had grown so much that a more convenient location was necessary. In 1982, the Clara Waldron Historical Room was moved to its present location on the library's main floor.
A number of projects have been made possible through the generosity of the Tecumseh Area Historical Society. Among these projects are the microfilming of the 1900-1977 issues of the Tecumseh Herald and making copies of the Rosacrans films available for circulation to the public. Since that time, the library has continued to annually microfilm the past year's issues of the Tecumseh Herald. Also, the Rosacrans films have been transferred to one videotape for easier access and viewing.
