Friends of the Tecumseh District Library

Purpose

The Friends of the Tecumseh District Library is a group of library patrons who care deeply about the Tecumseh District Library. It is our intent to provide support for the library through an organization of volunteers who share our purpose.

The Friends' purpose is to:

• Increase awareness of the library and its activities
• Encourage and facilitate volunteer activities that will benefit the library
• Assist in maintaining the library's financial stability
• Promote growth of the library's collections and programs
• To foster community spirit and goodwill

Now is a great time to join the Friends of the Tecumseh District Library. Our library is changing. We are excited about the library's transition from a school-supported library to a district-supported library. This is a wonderful opportunity to enhance the Library.

As a member of the Friends of the Tecumseh District Library, you will have the opportunity to share your enthusiasm for books and the services our library offers. Our combined ideas, talents, and time can help support and promote the continued growth of the library and its services throughout the community.

The Friends of the Tecumseh District Library is a nonprofit organization. Membership funds will be used for activities and programs that inform and enrich the community.

Many libraries throughout the United States have Friends groups actively supporting them. Through Friends' efforts to create awareness and appreciation of library services, libraries are strengthened and communities are better served.

Locally, Clinton Township Public Library, Saline District Library, Jackson District Library, Chelsea District Library and Manchester District Library all have active Friends groups.

Friends' activities can range from fund raising to landscaping to arranging speakers and programs. The list below is only an example of possible areas to serve the library.

Meetings

The regular meetings of the Friends of the Tecumseh District Library are held the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Tecumseh District Library.
